At Prestige Wheel Centre we are truly Alloy Wheel Specialists. We not only refinish alloy wheels but also are one of the UK's leading distributors for wheel brands that are custom-made to order, so we have expert knowledge in wheel fitments and materials used in alloy wheels.
We also know how important it is to have your wheels looking at their best especially as the wheels are one of the most important features of your car. With this in mind, we always aspire to give you the best finish possible when refinishing your wheels, condition dependant.
We offer Powder Coating, Ceramic Polishing, CNC Diamond Cutting, and also 2 & 3-piece Split Rim refurbishment.
It's fair to say that 95% of our wheel refurbishment happens IN HOUSE. In all cases, we fully refurbish the wheel, with the tyre totally removed from the wheel rather than simply being masked off. You can bring your wheels to us without the tyres, or we can strip and refit the tyres and re-balance the wheels. As Alloy Wheel specialists we use stick-on weights which are stuck on the reverse of the wheel and cause no markings usually in silver or black, with special colours available on request.
To achieve the best possible outcome, all wheels are chemically stripped of all layers of paint. All or most wheels are also gently blasted by hand to remove rust and porosity to obtain a smooth metal surface in preparation for coating. This process may take a little longer but quality finishes are what we aim for.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER MOST REFURBISHMENT JOBS CANNOT BE COMPLETED IN 1 WORKING DAY WITHOUT TAKING SHORTCUTS!
After that step is complete, the wheels are then brought over to the prep area where a technician deals with any damage before carefully lightly blast and treat the wheels prior to powder coating. We also have an in-house hydraulics machine dedicated to straightening wheels, so where an issue like this may be identified, we will advise on the suitability of this process on a wheel by wheel basis.
The next stage would be for the wheels to undergo a pre-heat process where necessary to reduce the effects of air pockets in porous aluminum prior to powder coat.
Bespoke or OEM finishes are then applied to complete the desired finish.
A powder clear coat is the last finish applied to any wheel renovation.
We highly suggest booking your vehicle in advance as waiting times without an appointment can be lengthy, so please keep this in mind.
On average, the turnaround time for most wheel refurbishment jobs is 2-4 working days, however more complete jobs like split rims, and ceramic polishing will usually take a little longer.
Loan wheels are often available too so please ask.
A Courtesy vehicle is now available to use while your vehicle is in with us. There is a small charge to cover insurance but that's it! No need to be immobile while you have your wheels renovated. Please ask a member of our staff for more information, or call us on 0121 377 8866
