We thought this time we would show just a little more about our process when it comes to original finishes when renovating wheels such as these Audi R8 V10 forged wheels. When refurbishing just 2 rear wheels on this Audi R8 is important that the finish matches the other wheels not being refurbished. This is not something easily achievable however due to our vast experience combined this is a task we have been asked to carry out many times now.

We took a few before pictures showing the damage to the wheels at the rear. Although the damage is not severe it is always a good idea to not leave it untreated as this can lead to wheels becoming corroded over periods of time.

IMG_1136We remove the tyre and also the TPMS sensor carefully showing the full extent of the damaged area. After spinning the wheel to check for trueness it is now ready to be stripped of all paint work and going through pre-treatment it is then prepared prior to primer coating with our special powder for diamond cut wheels. IMG_1178

The primer is applied and applied to the wheel by our experienced powder coaters ensuring the coating is extremely flat. Is then checked to any defects by hand and after applying the correct colour high temp paint and going through stoving procedures it then mounted onto the CNC diamond cut machine.

We probe each wheel separately and do not use old programmes. This ensures when machining your wheels we remove as little aluminium as possible. By doing this it gives the customer more chance of machining the wheel in case of future damage.IMG_1179

After leaving the machine area the wheel is once again checked over. Any rough edges left over on the entry spoke is carefully and manually removed via files or deburring tools. This ensures the clear coat powder lacquer is applied and gives best finish possible.IMG_1183

After clear coat procedures, and the tyre being mounted to the wheel with TPMS re-fitted we then re-fit the wheel/s to the car. They are fitted and set to correct torque per car.IMG_1190 copy
